Marsha Lynn Powe passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 7, 2021, at the age of seventy with the love of her family and friends surrounding her.

Marsha will be lovingly remembered by her husband of forty years, Harry Alexander Powe, III; her four sons, Garrett Alexander Powe (Patricia), Thomas Christian Powe (Fran), Robert Harrison Powe (Mary Crowley), and David Dillard Powe; her five grandchildren, Henry, Hilton, Michael, Mary Stuart and Webb; and her sons’ other mother for many years, Joyce Wilson (Lee), as well as others who were like family.

Marsha was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Elizabeth Powe, and her loving grandmother, Ada. 

Marsha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Auburn University in 1973, and there, she celebrated her days as a Kappa Delta lady in her emerald and pearls.  It was her honor to serve as a speech therapist with the Selma City Schools for many years. 

Marsha was an active member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church) since 1973.  Her fondest memories include teaching Sunday school, leading the children’s sermon, and the Ladies of the Westminster Sunday School class.  With a true servant’s heart, she volunteered with many charitable organizations and gave all of her extra time tending to others.

Marsha was blessed with a multitude of friends, and her greatest blessings were her husband, her four boys, five grandchildren, and her daughters in love.  She was known as an angel on earth and a stranger to none.  Her selfless giving was her love language, and her energy would light up a room.  By her moments with others, she still shines through all she has touched.

Her Celebration of Life and graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
