Stephen Edward Saueressig went home to the Lord on May 13, 2020, in Galveston, Texas. Steve was born in Montgomery, Alabama on April 21, 1952.

After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Steve graduated from The University of New Mexico and later earned a graduate degree from LSU. Steve had an illustrious career in the oil patch. Steve's 40-plus years as a drilling fluids specialist started with NL Baroid, and he later founded his own consulting company traveling the world and working offshore for some of the world's largest oil companies.

Steve is predeceased by his mother Joyce McDade Saueressig. He is survived by his father Joe S. Saueressig and stepmother, Marilyn Saueressig, his sisters Joy Saueressig and Tammy Hilton (Bill), and brothers Joe H. Saueressig (Melody) and David Saueressig (Molly). Steve also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Steve lived an adventuresome life and always found time to cheer on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys. He had a soft spot for neglected dogs and donations may be made in Steve's memory to The Galveston Island Humane Society at 6814 Broadway Street Galveston, TX 77554
