Jean Lindsey (Sides) (1930-2023) - Class Of 1948

Jean Lindsey Sides, died on August 7, 2023. She was 93 years old and was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Ben A. Sides, her parents, Romie and Lawson Lindsey, siblings, Anita Purvis and Lawson Lindsey, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Rushing, Ben (Buddy) Sides (Carol), Anita Ryan, Alex and Wesley Rushing all of Montgomery, Alabama, and her former son-in-law, Don Rushing, of Wetumpka, Alabama, sister-in-law Sue Lindsey.

All of her children and grandchildren were as devoted to her as she was to them. She was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, class of 1948.

Jean was a secretary and assistant to the Lucien Loeb, James L. Loeb, and Jamie Loeb families as well as Loeb and Company for 55 years, retiring at the age of 90. She was well-traveled overseas and, in the U.S., Her husband was career Air Force. She was married in 1950 in Washington, D.C. After two years there, they were stationed in Adana, Turkey, and numerous air bases in the U.S.

She and her daughter, Anita traveled to Israel and Egypt in 2000 with a tour group from Frazer Church where both were long-time members. They again became members of Robinson Springs UMC at Millbrook in 2006. It is the church of her ancestors, one of whom was a founder in 1828. She loved people and tried to help as many as she could.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Brookside Memorial Gardens with Dr. Neal Epler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 900 Maxwell Blvd., Montgomery 36104, or the Robinson Springs UMC, 5980 Main Street, Millbrook, AL 36054.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks, to Kristi and Tasha of Gentiva Hospice for all their love and kindness throughout her illness. Brookside Funeral Home, Crematorium & Memorial Gardens of Millbrook, AL directing.
