Leonard H "Pete" Cox (1948-2012) - Class Of 1966

Leonard Hearst Cox, Jr., Pete, age 64, of Montgomery, AL, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cox was a 1966 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, Montgomery, Alabama, where he played trumpet in the Lanier Band. While at Lanier, he played piano on stage with Ferrante and Tiecher. He attended Jacksonville State University and graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Communications. He retired from WSFA TV after a long career as a producer/director, where he won numerous awards for his work. He volunteered for many years for the Montgomery Ballet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Hearst Cox, Sr. and Pauline Cox of Montgomery, and parents-in-law, Troy Edward Anders and Annalee Anders of Auburn, Alabama

Survivors include his wife, Judy Anders Cox (Montgomery); one aunt, Sarah Daffin, (Panama City. FL); two brothers-in-law, Phil Anders (California), Ronnie (Rosemary) Anders (Auburn, AL); four cousins, James Stacey, (Foley, AL), Susan and Suki Daffin, (Panama City) and Robbie Daffin, (Panama City) and his daughter Dale Garrison (Jasper, AL); three nephews. Ron (Becky) Anders (Auburn), Kirk(Audra) Anders (Atlanta) and Jason Anders of Greenville, SC; six great-nieces and nephews Joshua, Patrick and Camille Anders (Auburn), Troy and Walt Anders (Atlanta) and Lydia Anders (Greenville, SC); and close friends James Eldon and Pat Wilson, Bill Blanchard, John Pappanastos, Cooper and Penelope Hall, and Nelda Watford Nolan. He will be especially missed by his loving cats, Oreo, Pinkie, Tinker, Mama and Bobo.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the bus ministry at St. James United Methodist Church, 9045 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117.

James E. Wilson (1966)

Leonard H. Cox, Jr. is the same person listed as "Pete" Cox.  Pete was my longtime friend, college roommate at the University of Alabama and  the Best-Man at my wedding.  He had a long career as a director at WSFA-TV (Channel 12) in Montgomery  and won many awards for his ads, etc. His Final Memorial was held at his home in Montgomery on Saturday, April 20, 2013. He was survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Anders Cox and several beloved cats. Jim Wilson (James E.
