Frances Elizabeth Coughenour (1919-2012) - Class Of 1938

Francis Elizabeth Coughenour, Class of 1938 and my beloved cousin, died quietly in her sleep on Sunday, 22 January, 2012.

Frances Elizabeth Coughenour, born Aug. 31, 1919, in Montgomery, died on Jan. 22, 2012, at Andalusia Manor. She was 92.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., today, Tues., Jan. 24, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery, with Elder Greg Smith officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

One of three children, Coughenour was preceded in death by her parents, Orin and Lois Coughenour, and her two older brothers, Orin Jr. and Howard. She is survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

Coughenour worked for 30 years as a legal secretary in the Judge Advocate General’s office at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Upon retirement, she moved to Andalusia in 1975 and served as office manager for the Covington Schools Federal Credit Union for 23 years until her second retirement in 1998.

She was an avid dog lover and attended Union Primitive Baptist Church.
