Mary Lou Van Ryzin (1948-1969) - Class Of 1966

Mrs. Mary Lou [Van Ryzin] Crowe, 21, a resident of 3810 Troy Sweyse Ave., Huntsville and a former resident of Montgomery for 19 years, died in a Huntsville hospital Saturday at 1:15 p.m. after a brief illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Services will be from Leak-Memory Chapel at 3:30 p.m. Monday with Dr. J. R. White and the Reverend Al Parks officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include the husband, Bruce A. Crowe, Huntsville; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Van Ryzin, Montgomery; mother, Mrs. Joseph Welles, Benton Harbor, Michigan; two brothers, Robert E. Stanford, Berkeley, California; J. Phillip Stanford, Auburn; three sisters, Miss Sharon Van Ryzin, Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Sue Anne Spielman, Sarasota, Florida, and Mrs. Leigh Stabler, Birmingham.

The family request the omission of flowers. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.

Survived By: At the time, both parents, one sister(Sharon). Stepmother and step-siblings, Leigh and Phil Stanford. Parents are now deceased, and Sharon cannot be located. Phil is deceased and Leigh has given the birth and death dates.

Mary Lou was one of the kindest, brightest, most beautiful (inside and out) in our class of 750 students, one of the largest public high schools in the state. She died tragically following a ruptured ovarian cyst when she became septic in the hospital. Since she was the Top Beauty in the yearbook "Who's who?" in 1966, she was literally known by everyone and loved by those who knew her well.
