Frank Bishop Stringer, Sr. (1927-2006) - Class Of 1946

STRINGER, Frank Bishop, Sr., born April 1, 1927, in Montgomery, AL, passed away at the age of 79 on March 14th at a local hospital.  He was preceded in death by his parents John A. Stringer and Martha A. Stringer.  He is survived by his daughter, Linda Stringer Richardson; son, Frank Bishop Stringer, Jr., (Sandy); son-in-law, James V. Richardson, M.D. and daughter-in-law, Leslie N. Stringer, all of Montgomery, AL; brother, John R. Stringer (Marie) of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Ashley Brantley Moellinger (Dr. Justin), Baley Brantley Trumbly, William P. (Pat) Richardson, Morgan Stringer, William M. (Will) Richardson and Frank Bishop Stringer, III; two great-grandchildren, Maddox Trumbly and Parker Moellinger and beloved companion of 41 years, Dot Benson, Wetumpka, AL. Mr. Stringer graduated from Sidney Lanier H.S. and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He worked for and retired after 50 years as co-owner and C.E.O. of Goodwin Brothers Food Service Equipment Co.  He was a member of Bonnie Crest Country Club, Alcazar Shrine Temple, Montgomery Lions Club, Montgomery Quarter-back Club, Auburn Scholarship Boosters and Family Motor Coach Association.  His passions were his family, golf, R.V. traveling and 50 years of Auburn football.  He was honored by his family prior to his death with a named Auburn University Scholarship, the Frank Bishop Stringer, Sr. Honorary Scholarship in the Lowder School of Business.  Funeral Services will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel at 12:30 Saturday, March 18, 2006, with visitation two hours prior to the services which will be officiated by Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Pat Turner, Renny Lambrecht, Loren Smith, David Pinkston, Pete Turner and Mic Ashcraft.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn University Frank Bishop Stringer.
