In Memory Of Our Poets

Sue Elizabeth Hargrove (King) (1939-2016) - Class Of 1957

Sue Elizabeth Hargrove King 77, of Auburn, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2016.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Auburn United Methodist Church Chapel at 10:30 am CST.

Sue was born and grew up in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Edward Hargrove and Dorothy Williamson Hargrove. Sue Graduated from Lanier High School in Montgomery and Auburn University. She shared a mobile life with her family as her husband’s careers took the family to many southern locations. She loved to study the history of those locations. She loved the game of golf and always said it put her where she could see God’s handiwork among the trees and grass (also, the weeds in the rough). She also had a passion for books, Theatre and Auburn Athletics.

Her love for her grandkids was unlimited. Austin Smith of New York City and Ivy Smith of Auburn, Alabama were loved and commanding as she insisted that we have Sunday lunch together every Sunday they were students at Auburn University. She was the sweetest person you would ever meet: Just as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside. Her presence will be missed!

She is survived by her husband, George King, and their children, Michael King of Atlanta, Georgia and a daughter George-Ann Smith of Dallas, Texas, brothers Walter Hargrove of Louisville, Kentucky, John Hargrove of Montgomery, Alabama and Alan Hargrove of Verbena, Alabama.
