HAWKINS, Rachel Youngblood, 68, died at her residence Sunday, September 10, 2006.  Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church in Troy with Dr. Ed Walter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.  Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. There will be a one hour lie in state prior to the service at the church.  Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alla Youngblood.  Survivors include her husband, Dr. Doug Hawkins, two Daughters, Martha Lynn and Jim Drinkard and Holly and Greg Anderson of Troy, son, Dr. Robert and Melanie Hawkins, Troy, eight grandchildren, Rob Drinkard, Dean Anderson, Rachel Anderson, Hawkins Drinkard, Douglas Hawkins, Mary Kane Hawkins, Alla Anderson and Haley Hawkins all of Troy, sister, Betty Roy and Harvey Goolsby of Millbrook and sister-in-law, Mary and Glenn Handley of Luverne.  Mrs. Hawkins was a 1955 graduate of Lanier High School in Montgomery and a 1959 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Accounting.  While at Auburn she was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority, was selected as a Rose of Pi Kappa Phi and was featured as a favorite in the Glomerata yearbook.  An active member of First Baptist Church, Mrs Hawkins taught Sunday School for 27 years.  Recently she taught the Mildred Singleton Sunday School class. Mrs. Hawkins worked with the Twilighters as sponsor for about twenty years.  She was also instrumental in the foundation of the Chi Omega Sorority at Troy State University in 1976.  She served as chapter Advisor for 22 years.  Pallbearers will be Chuck Ash, Gilbert Sellers, Allen C. Jones, Kenny Cox, Benny Scarbrough, and Duane Webb.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mildred Singleton Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held Monday, September 11, 2006 from 5:00 until 8:00 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
