In Memory Of Our Poets

Thomas "Tommy" Floyd Burnside (1933-2005) - Class Of 1952

Tommy was born January 3, 1933, and lived in Wedowee, Alabama later in his life.  He passed away October 28, 2005, at the age of 72.  He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth,  daughter, Tammy, and son, Jack

Tommy married my cousin Billie Ruth and I was flower girl in the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding too. He was a wonderful husband and father. Everyone loved and respected him. Tommy graduated from Auburn University in 1956 with a degree in Vocational Agriculture. He was the County Extension Agent in Randolph County, Al. for many years.  He helped to Found the Alabama Jr. Cattleman's Association and was also named educator of the year in 1965-66 for Randolph County. Tommy and I had an on going feud over Auburn and Alabama football. Nothing serious just fun. He is greatly missed by all that knew him.   Submitted by Julianne Driver (Eaker), Class of 1967.
