Charles H. Wampold, Jr. (1925-2010) - Class Of 1943

WAMPOLD, Charles H. Jr., a resident of Montgomery, AL, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the age of 84. He was the son of Selma Manassee Wampold and Charles H. Wampold, Sr. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Babette Levy Wampold, his daughters, Jerre Lynn Waters (Gary), Carolyn Beller (Gary), and a son, Charles H. Wampold III (Martha), and seven grandchildren-Sarah, William and Caroline Waters, Ande Beller, and Charlotte, Emma and Grace Wampold. Charles graduated from Lanier High School and received his Bachelors and Law Degrees from the University of Alabama. He practiced law for many years. He was very active in many civic organizations, and was President of the Jewish Federation of Montgomery twice, President of the Greil Foundation, on the Board of Temple Beth-Or, and was particularly proud to be a member of the acquisitions committee of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. He donated much of his private art collection to the museum. The family is extremely grateful to his loving caregivers: Sandra Harris, Shontel Boswell, Theodora Stovall, Stephanie Gill, and Margaret Sawyer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Beth-Or, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, or the Montgomery Humane Society. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rabbi Elliot Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
