In Memory Of Our Poets

Margaret Carol Sanders (Wylie) (1919-2010) - Class Of 1938

Margaret Carol Sanders Wylie - April 7, 1919 - August 27, 2010

Margaret Carol Sanders, 91, was born April 7, 1919, to Janie Louise Black Sanders and Bernard Foster Sanders, Sr., in Coal Creek, Tennessee. The second of four children, she had two sisters, Edna and Dorothy, and younger brother, Bernard Jr. She went to her Lord Friday, August 27, 2010. A 1938 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, she studied electronics at the University of Alabama, and worked at the Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta and the FCC. Mrs. Wylie studied dance in Montgomery and was planning a profession in dance when a motorcycle accident cut short that career. She said she had no regrets, because the incident led her to her husband Stanley and her daughter Dorothy. Mrs. Wylie and her husband owned and operated three Motorola two- way radio and radiotelephone franchises. In 1976, she moved to Prattville, Alabama. In March of 2008, she came to stay with her daughter in Athens, Georgia. After a fall in August 2009, she remained in assisted living. Mrs. Wylie's feelings were faithfully and unsparingly devoted to others and her Lord. She sincerely cared about any individual who crossed her path. Mrs. Wylie assured anyone in later years that she might be alone, but never lonely, because she had a warm, personal relationship with God. "If I get lonesome, I just talk to Jesus" was a comment she made numerous times. In addition to her daughter, Dorothy Jones, son-in-law Chuck Jones, and grandsons Joshua Browning and Caleb Austen Jones, Mrs. Wylie is survived by her sisters, two nieces, great-niece, great- nephew, great-great niece, and two great-great nephews. We celebrate her life, but more importantly, we celebrate her love and her faith. Her legacy of caring will remain with us for years to come. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prattville. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, care of the Autauga County Aging Program.
