Robert Daniel Peek (1949-2010) - Class Of 1969

Robert D. Peek passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Robert was 60 years old, loved sports, and was affectionately known as "Coach".

A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Robert stayed in Warner Robins, Georgia, after his service career and came to be well known in the community as Mr. Bob, an advocate for mentally retarded and mentally ill. His entire career was dedicated to helping those special populations find their way into the mainstream of society.

Robert was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, on December 3, 1949. He was raised in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated with the Class of 1969 at Sidney Lanier High School. He became an extreme Alabama football fan. Robert Umpired with the Houston County Umpire's Association, was a Gate Manager for the Georgia National Fair, loved to travel, and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Peek,
His nephew Joey Gissendanner of Montgomery Alabama.

Robert is survived by his wife Constance,
His son Buster,
His son Craig,
His Son Danny,
His daughter-in-law Christina.

His six loving grandchildren:

Kelly Peek of the Warner Robins Georgia.
Ashley Peek of the Warner Robins Georgia.
Courtney Peek of the Warner Robins Georgia.
Isabelle Peek of the Warner Robins Georgia.
Brandon Clakely of Montgomery, Alabama.

His sister Debi Keller Beverly Gissendanner of Montgomery, Alabama.
His sister Beverly Gissendanner of Montgomery, Alabama.
His brother Jody Peek of Milton, Florida.
A number of nieces and nephews.

Among the Pallbearers was Robert's  friend for life from Vietnam, Tony Deyoung of Mauldin, South Carolina.
