James Robert Pouncey 83 a resident of Pike Road, Alabama.

Our sweet, loving, caring, Dad, and PawPaw, was called home on January 2, 2024.

He is survived by his two daughters Belinda Bush (Richard), and Michelle Pouncey Freeman.

Grandchildren Maegan Bush Humphries (Brian), Buddy Bush (Amelia) and Haley Freeman.

Great grandchildren Mason Humphries, Jase Humphries, and Ivy Bush.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thurston and Eunice Pouncey, and a great-granddaughter Maeryn Elizabeth Humphries.

Mr. Pouncey adored his children and grandchildren. He was an excellent and well-known fast-pitch pitcher, a passionate advocate
for the care of the mentally ill. He worked most of his career as Associate Commissioner for the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health. In his retirement, he loved spending his time at his cabin on the Alabama River cruising in his boat.

The memorial service will be held on January 6, 2024, at Brewer Memorial Church in Cecil, Alabama. Visitation at 1:00 and service immediately after at 2:00.

The family cannot express enough our gratitude for all the love and care Southern Springs Health & Rehab Nursing Home showed and gave our precious Dad, PawPaw. Truly treated him and all our family as family.

Donations can be made in his memory to Brewer Memorial Church, and Mane Montgomery Area Nontraditional Equestrians, Pike Road, Alabama.
