Gail Stewart Shegon, age 82, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020. Gail was born on March 19, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Caldwell Stewart and Eloise Haigler Stewart, and her brother, David Stewart.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, August J. Shegon; children, Christie Ennis (Jim); Mark Shegon (Tina), Pat Shegon (Holly); brother, Allen Stewart (Judy); sisters-in-law, Charlotte Stewart and Susan Stewart; grandchildren Jake Ennis (Izzy), Kate Ennis, Will Shegon, Ben Shegon, Matt Shegon, Caroline Shegon, Mary Stewart Shegon, Sally Shegon, and Parker Shegon; as well as great-grandchild, Anna Haigler Benante.
A Sidney Lanier High School graduate, Gail was a talented artist who designed monuments for 50+ years. She enjoyed being outdoors with her beloved dogs, Bella and Gus. Gail was a lifelong parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served on the Altar Society.
A funeral mass for Gail will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 219 Adams Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104 with a committal to follow at St. Margaret's Cemetery.
Jim Ennis, Mike Romanowski, Will Shegon, Brian Stewart, Kevin Stewart, and Sean Stewart serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ben and Matt Shegon.
