Billie Claire Watson Mangum, 96, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023. She was born May 3, 1927, to Ruby Jean Berrey Watson and William Forrest Watson. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Philip Mangum, and her brothers, Paul Shaver Watson, and his wife, Sandra Harrison Watson, and Forrest “Buddy” Berrey Watson.

She is survived by her children, Claire Mangum Watson, Florence Mangum Cauthen, and Eugene Philip Mangum (Kathie), all of Montgomery, Alabama. “Greatmama” is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Dale Fordham (Laura), New Orleans, Louisiana; Sarah Fordham Shepherd (Jamie), Atlanta, Georgia; Belle Churchwell Cauthen, Montgomery, Alabama; Eugene Preston Mangum Cauthen (Alyson), Montgomery, Alabama; Eugene Philip Mangum (Jessica), New Orleans, Louisiana; William Lyons Mangum, Abington, Pennsylvania; Kathryn Mangum Dobbs (Caleb), Auburn, Alabama; James Benjamin Mangum (Emma), Brooklyn, New York, and her great-grandchildren: Annie, Harold, Virginia and Josephine Shepherd; Mollie and Finn Mangum; McCaleb, Wallace and Watson Dobbs; Blair Mangum, and Reyn Cauthen. Billie Claire is also survived by her sister-in-law, Angela Adams Bess.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2 pm, at Greenwood Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of John Knox Manor for their compassionate care over the past few years.
