May Nora (Katie) Murphy, 96 a resident of Montgomery died July 5th, 2023. She was preceded in death by Lt. Col. John G. Murphy (Retired), husband, and Wylie Charles Murphy, son.
She is survived by John G Murphy, Thomas Alan Murphy (Deanne), Jo Carol Tatum (Jerry), Patricia
Kay McCormick (Robert), Mary Gayle Anderson (William), Teresa Fay O’Neal (Michael), and numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
Katie was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Seth and Neva Johnson. She was the youngest of 14 children. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. Married a soldier and traveled the world. Katie was an avid gardener, a Girl Scout leader for 16 years, and a member of the Officer’s Wives Club for over 25 years.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on July 9, 2023, at Hunter Hills Church of Christ, Prattville, AL. Visitation will be at 3:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend a word of gratitude to Dorothy Kiser, long-time friend, and caretaker, and Enhabit Hospice and Nurse Khalia.
