In Memory Of Our Poets

Rhonda Jane McDonald (Webster) - Class Of 1969

Jane McDonald Webster, age 72, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. Jane was born on June 8, 1951, in LaGrange, Georgia to Fred and Myrtis McDonald.

Her siblings, Linda and Larry, welcomed her to the family.  She grew up on Clover Hill Drive in Montgomery, Alabama, where her childhood friends became her lifelong friends. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1969. She later attended Auburn University Montgomery and graduated with a degree in elementary education. She taught for many years at Millbrook Middle School, impacting the lives of countless children, before her retirement in 2007.

Jane married Johnny Webster in 1979. She had two children, Michele and Matt, whom she loved dearly, but her greatest joy was being “Grammie” to her granddaughters, Caroline, Gracie, and Addison.

In 2012, Jane and Johnny moved to Santa Rosa Beach, where they would spend the next eleven years. Jane enjoyed living near the beach. She loved sitting on her porch watching the wildlife in her backyard. She loved shopping and trips out west.  More than anything, she treasured time with her family.

Jane leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 44 years, Johnny Price Webster; her daughter Michele Holder (Chip) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; her son Matt Webster (Lindsay Kilgore) of Vestavia, Alabama; her granddaughters Ashley Caroline Holder of Panama City Beach, Florida, Abbie Gracie Holder of Pensacola, Florida, Addison Kate Webster of Vestavia, Alabama; and her bonus grandson, Walter Willis Kilgore of Vestavia, Alabama. She also leaves to cherish her memories her sister, Linda McDonald Weaver (Bill) of Foley, Alabama; brother Larry McDonald (Karla) of Birmingham, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice for their impeccable care, unwavering kindness, and compassion during Jane’s last two weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice or any Lewy Body research center or organization.
