In Memory Of Our Poets

Jimmy Rodney Hope - Class Of 1970

November 2, 1950 - April 12, 2024

Jimmy Hope, Sr., of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Self Hope, and his father, John Hope of Montgomery, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Black Hope, his sons, Jimmy Hope, Jr. (Angela) of Greenville, South Carolina, Hunter Hope (Diana) of Brandon, Mississippi, Blake Burdette of Los Angeles, California, and daughters, Shaye Hope of New Orleans, Louisiana & Savannah Glenn (Mike) of Anderson, South Carolina. His brothers also survive him, Mark Hope (Beth), Steve Hope & Tommy Hope, all of Montgomery, Alabama.

Jimmy's devotion to his family knew no bounds. He took great pride in his role as Granddad to his eight grandchildren: Brody, Chandler, Walker, Reece, John Parker, Sadie Rose, Lincoln, and Nash.

He found comfort in the companionship of his brothers, Mark and Steve, and his best friend of more than 40 years Mike Banks (Julia) of Anderson, South Carolina. All of whom loved and supported him throughout his journey.

Jimmy's professional life was distinguished by his dedication and hard work. For five decades, he contributed his talents to United Surgical Steel, a company founded by his father, John Hope. Even in retirement, Jimmy excelled, earning recognition as an exceptional employee at Lowe's of Anderson where he made many friends.

Outside of work, Jimmy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether cheering on Alabama Football, navigating the waters of Lake Hartwell, nurturing his love for horticulture, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, Jimmy embraced each moment. His quick wit and unparalleled sense of humor lit up every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Jimmy was a man of faith, finding strength and solace in his unwavering belief in our Lord and Savior.

In celebration of Jimmy's life, let us cherish the memories we shared and honor the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will forever guide and inspire us. Rest in peace, Jimmy. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will live forever in our hearts.
