Roby Lee Taylor (1954-1988) - Class Of 1973

Roby Lee Taylor, 33, died Wednesday at his 404 S. Perry St. home after an extended illness. Taylor was a victim of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). He was recently featured in a series of stories published by The Alabama Journal.

He was a 1973 graduate of Lanier High School and attended Troy State University. He was a taxi driver in New York City prior to returning to Montgomery.

Surviving are his parents, Clara and Lewis Malone of Montgomery; a sister, Judy Chambers of Montgomery; three brothers, J. R. Taylor of Wetumpka, John C Malone of Montgomery, and Ila Malone of Double Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Montgomery AIDS Outreach.

Taylor's body was taken to Byrd Funeral Home in Dothan where he was to be cremated Wednesday night. At his request, his ashes will be taken to New York City.
