Barbara "Babs" Reece (Sadler) (1948-2022) - Class Of 1966

Barbara 'Babs' Reece Sadler, 73, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully with her family on July 22, 2022.

According to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd, a private family service will be held later. Columbus, GA 31907.

Babs was born on September 21, 1948, to the late Robert Reece and Roberta Hudson Reece in Munich, Germany. She grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, attending Sidney Lanier High School and Auburn University. Babs married her husband of 50 years, John Michael Sadler, on March 14, 1972, in Montgomery, Alabama.

Babs was a dedicated science teacher at Key Elementary for over 20 years. In retirement, she served as a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital. Babs was a remarkably talented seamstress, avid bridge player, devoted Auburn football fan, loyal friend, and unconditionally loving mother and grandmother. She provided kindness, generosity, and humor to everyone she knew.

Babs is survived by her husband John Michael Sadler, daughters Leigh Ann Sadler and Lindsey Sadler Vicente (Karlo), beloved granddaughter Lydia Josephine Vicente, sister Donna Reece Jenkins (Pete), cousin Sara Hudson Smith (Al), and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Columbus Hospice, PAWS Humane Society, or to the John M. and Barbara R. Sadler Endowed Scholarship at Auburn University.
