Victoria 'Vicki' Poteat (Loyd) - Class Of 1966

Victoria (Vicki) Loyd, 69, passed away July 6, 2017, in Birmingham, Alabama. Vicki was born January 17, 1948, in Macon, Georgia, the eldest child of the late Carl Poteat Sr. and Jacqueline.

Vicki was a member of the Riverchase Church of Christ. She graduated in 1966 from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama and continued her education at Auburn University, where she was very active with the Christian Student Center. She would meet her future husband, Danny Loyd, shortly before graduating from Auburn University with two degrees in French and Architecture.

Vicki was a successful commercial architect. She enjoyed being active in her church, singing in her church acapella group, volunteering and mentoring with the Girl Scouts, and spending time with her children.

Vicki is survived by her sister Ami Simpson of Montgomery, Carl Poteat Jr. of Prattville, husband Danny Loyd of Birmingham, two sons Eric Loyd of Birmingham and Kerry Loyd of Charleston, SC, daughter Brenna Bennett of Rota, Spain, and two grandsons, Elijah and Cyrus Bennett.
