Herbert Paul Chancellor (1939-2006) - Class Of 1957

Herbert Paul Chancellor, 67, of University Heights Road, died Sunday, November 26, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, he had lived in Jackson County since 1969 and was a 1966 graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and retired as a pharmacist from Eckerd's. He was the son of the late Herbert Alto and Roma Hataway Chancellor. As a member of Cullowhee Baptist Church, he served on several committees and was a deacon.

Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Etheree Burkett Chancellor; two daughters, Amanda Carolina Ryan of Indianapolis and Cordelia Meyer of Cullowhee; one son, Herbert Charles Chancellor of Bloomington, Indiana; one sister, Mary Ann Eifert Brown of LaPine, Alabama; six grandchildren, Shelby Ray M. Meyer, Emma Leigh Ryan, Bailey Jane, and Maxwell James Ryan, Savannah Katherine Ryan and Atticus Chancellor Ryan.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cullowhee Baptist Church with Dr. Jeffery Vickery and Reverend Tonya Vickery officiating. Visitation was held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Gainer, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006, with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
