Ernest Calvin Gilmore (1926-2014) - Class Of 1944

Ernest Calvin Gilmore, 87, of Montgomery, passed away on April 29th. He was born in Birmingham on May 30, 1926. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Rowell Gilmore.

Ernie worked at Southern Sash Supply for over 40 years. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Grubbs (Jimmy); his son, Chap Gilmore (Melissa); his brother, Floyd Gilmore, and sisters, Delores Mahan and Barbara Crumpton. He had 4 grandchildren: Britt Grubbs, Betsey Grubbs, Matthew Gilmore, and Erin Gilmore. He also had 4 great- grandchildren: Forest Grubbs, Parker James Brightwell, Chase Grubbs, and Trenton Brooks. Later in life, Ernie shared a loving relationship with his very special friend, Mrs. Frances Odom and her extended family. Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, May 2. Visitation will be at 10 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am in the chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be made to the website foundation- woundedwarriorproject.org or your favorite charity . The pallbearers will be Britt Grubbs, Matthew Gilmore, Forest Grubbs, Parker James Brightwell, Chase Grubbs, and Trenton Brooks.
