Mary Evelyn Goolsby Godwin, 77, passed into her heavenly home in the early hour of July 6, 2014. She was a faithful member of McGehee Road Baptist Church and was a friend to all who knew her. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, James E. "Buck" Godwin, and two fme sons, Edward Scott (Vicki) Godwin and James Glenn Godwin who is disabled and for whom she faithfully took care of for almost 28 years. Additionally, she is survived by four beautiful and caring grandchildren, Hanna Claire Godwin (Stephen) White, Zachary Wyatt Godwin, Dominic Graeson Godwin and Dylon Anthony Godwin. Her great grandchildren are Caleigh Godwin and Wyatt Godwin. Her first cousin, Mary Ann Dobbs, of Birmingham, was her favorite cousin. She also leaves behind a grieving special friend for over 30 years, Sadie Rains.

Sadie was the "sister" that Mary never had.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Keith Gambill, her pastor at McGehee Road Baptist Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation at Leak Memory Chapel for one hour prior to the services. Leak Memory Chapel of Montgomery is directing.
