Obituary
 
A service celebrating the life of Herbert Harold Metcalf will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home with Reed Ward officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 - 3:00. Burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery.

Harold was born on December 16, 1926 in Hartford, Alabama to Herbert and Cara Lee Metcalf. He was a longtime member of Morningview Baptist church where he was an active member of the Adult 5 Men's Sunday School class, a greeter and usher, and participated in many other church ministries.

Harold was an active member of the Montgomery Exchange Club where he developed life-long friendships through service to the Montgomery Community. He also served his country in The United States Army during WWII and retired from Montgomery Wholesale Florist.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Nell Metcalf, and survived by one child, Mary Glennelle Craft of Marietta, GA (Dr. Gary Craft); two grandsons, Adam Craft and Scott Craft of Marietta, GA; five sisters, Kate Metcalf Goodman, Betty Metcalf Fleming, Dora Metcalf McCain, Elaine Metcalf Knight (Harry Knight), Janice Metcalf Lambert (Robert Lambert); two brothers, Charles Lamar Metcalf (Arleen), and Wyatt Ray Metcalf (Pat); and a host of nieces and nephews. He held a special place in his heart for his niece, Linda Age Shields. He also leaves behind special friends Roy Everage and neighbors Elizabeth and Louis Bustamante and Ms. Pat Eady.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Metcalf, Louis Bustamante, Ray Goodman, James Shields, Jake Lambert and Dirac Barbee. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Montgomery Exchange Club.
