William Morgan Ledyard (1927-2016) - Class Of 1946

William Morgan Ledyard, 89, of Montgomery, Alabama died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM, at St.John's Episcopal Church, Montgomery, Alabama, with the Rev. Robert C. Wisnewski, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday at 1:00 PM, prior to the service at the church. He is survived by daughters Laura Ledyard McCartney and husband John Timothy McCartney, Gadsden, and Margaret Ledyard Martin and husband Jace Dale Martin, Nashville; grandchildren, Dr. Jace Dale Martin,Jr., and William Matthew Martin of Nashville, William Timothy McCartney, New York, NY, John Ledyard McCartney, Gadsden, Al, Molly Alma McCartney, Atlanta, Ga, and Mary Margaret McCartney, Gadsden, AL who all knew him as Hey-Daddy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Danella Kennedy Ledyard, by his parents, Robert Elisha Ledyard and Fannie Lou Brooks Ledyard, and siblings Molly Ledyard McGough, Robert E. Ledyard, II, Thomas B.Ledyard, Lucy Ledyard Simmons. Mr. Ledyard was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, and attended Huntingdon College. He retired from the Finance Department of the State of Alabama where he was Assistant State Purchasing Agent. Pallbearers will be nephews, Joseph M. McGough, Thomas Brooks Ledyard, Roger A. Jobe, Robert E. Ledyard, III,Goodman G. Ledyard, Robert E. Simmons, Kenneth E. Mahan, and Charlie L. Lanphier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , St. John's Episcopal Church, or Holy Comforter Episcopal Day School, Gadsden, AL.
