Veazey, Patricia Anne Shirley was born in Clayton, Alabama to James Grady and Jane Spires Shirley on February 6, 1938 and died on April 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Member of Lee High's first graduation class in 1956 and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Troy University in 1990, Pat retired as a Resource Advisor in 1998 after 40 years of Federal service at Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex. She is an active member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, Francis Marion NSDAR Chapter, and Cradle of the Confederacy UDC Chapter. Mrs. Veazey is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jasper Walton (J.W.) Veazey, Jr.; her daughter, Anne Middleton and husband Ricky of Montgomery; her son, Kenneth Wayne Veazey and wife Pam of Deatsville; her sister, Frances Kay Skibo and husband Mike of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Kelly Davis and husband Brian, Tracy Ramsey and husband Eryk, Joshua Veazey and Bethany Veazey; one special great-granddaughter, (born April 25, 2013), Olivia Anne Davis; sister-in-law, Laconia Pigg, Smyrna, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Jane, her step-father Ottice Walls, her sister Linda Jane Shirley, and an infant son James Walton Veazey, buried in Bradley, Mississippi (1958). Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Rick Marshall and Reverend Larry Armstrong officiating. The family will receive friends at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken and Josh Veazey, Ricky Middleton, Mike Skibo, Tim and Jerry Thomas.
