Richard A. Gilbert (-2015) - Class Of 1956

Richard A. Gilbert, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He attended Pike Road and Lanier High Schools, retired from Albany International (Appleton Wire), and a charter member of Valley Park Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Leak Memory Chapel, with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude M. Gilbert and Myrtle Brown Gilbert Turner; brothers, Marvin, Jack, Charles, and Donald Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Ann Fortner Gilbert; daughters, Laura Emfinger (Robert), Cammie Adams, Clare Fuller (Virgil), Amy Gilbert, Susie Smith (Mike); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jean Rodgers of Thompson, GA, and Hilda McEwan (Doni) of Lake Havasue, AZ.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lamar Adams, Ben Emfinger, Kameron Smith, and sons-in-law, Robert Emfinger, Virgil Fuller, and Mike Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Gaston, Larry Paschall, Joe Pharr, Don Plott, and Fred Thompson. His Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015, from 5-7 PM at Leak Memory Chapel. A special thanks to Bessie Pugh, and to the Baptist Hospice staff; especially George, Susan, Aresha, & Tracey.
