Jane Sentell (Preiss) (1938-2016) - Class Of 1956

Jane Sentell Preiss Obituary

Jane Sentell Preiss, 78, of Little Rock, died October 31, 2016. Born in Luverne, Alabama, to J.O. and Jane Sentell, she graduated from Auburn University with an Elementary Education Degree.

She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

Jane taught school in Montgomery, AL, Jackson, MS, and Little Rock, AR. She received her Masters in Education from the University of Central Arkansas. She was the author of the One-Room School, a school for those being home-schooled, that met one day a week, teaching World Geography, World History, Bible, Art, and Music. She taught for 21 years.

Jane was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, teaching children in Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was active in Bible Study Fellowship and was an Area Class Administrator for eight years.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George Preiss III; daughters, Elizabeth Richardson (John) of Russellville, AR, Helen Harris (Paul) of Heber Springs, AR and Grace Sanders (David) of Conway, AR; eight grandchildren, Grace Anne Richardson, Jerry Richardson, Hannah Richardson; Karis Sanders Rogers (Ryan), Luke Sanders, Logan Sanders, Kirby Aquino and Lydia Aquino, who she delivered at childbirth. She is also survived by her twin brother, James Sentell, and brother, Edgar Sentell (Barbara).

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Thursday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Bible Study Fellowship or Immanuel Baptist Church.
