Robert Allen Kratzer (1927-2016) - Class Of 1946

Robert Allen Kratzer of Montgomery, AL, passed away on November 4, 2016. Robert was a Montgomery native and a 1956 graduate of Auburn University before embarking on a long and fruitful career as a civil engineer at the Alabama Department of Transportation, serving as a talented bridge designer. The son of a carpenter, Robert enjoyed working in his wood shop, relaxing at Lake Martin, and spending time with family. He was a humble servant who modeled Christ in his patience, loving-kindness and service to his family and others. Robert was a dedicated member of Heritage Baptist Church and formerly Forest Park Baptist Church, Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Gayle Kratzer and Katherine Pritchett Kratzer. Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Reba Whetstone Kratzer; brother, Logan (Mavis) Kratzer of Montgomery, AL; children, Allen (Keetha) Kratzer of Montgomery, AL, and Bob (Patty) Kratzer of Montgomery, AL, ; grandchildren, Christopher (Alaura) Kratzer, Jordan Kratzer, and Katherine Kratzer; great-grandchildren Emily Beckett and Robert James Kratzer; nieces, Lisa (Jerry) Lassiter and Jennifer (Chris) Harrelson

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 5pm-7pm at Leak Memory Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 12pm at Leak Memory Chapel with a graveside service to follow. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gus McLendon, Doyle Blackwell, Ed Livingston, James Bowles, Chris Kratzer, and Jimmy Rowell. Leak Memory Chapel is directing. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Legacy Fund at Heritage Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL , 1849 Perry Hill Rd., Montgomery, AL 36106.
