According to his father's obituary, Buddy preceded him in death. According to the Social Security List, Mr. Carothers, Jr. died on September 7, 1994. This would have been ten days before Buddy's 42nd birthday.

Buddy was always so sweet to me .... he called me "Nankee". Such a talented and F-U-N-N-Y guy. I was so very sad when I learned of his death .... a true tragedy and a huge loss.
