Mr. James R. "Bobby" Collins (Band 1955 -1957)

COLLINS, James R. (Bobby), 79, a resident of Montgomery, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne S. Collins; children, Tambre Collins,J ames R. "Bo" Collins, Jr. and Lori Collins (Gordon) Hart; stepsons, Brian (Charity) Rod­riguez and Kevin (Stacey) Rodriguez; step-grandchil­dren, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Braeden and Jackson Rodri­guez.  He was a member of Frazer Memorial United Meth­odist Church and a member of the Frazer Orchestra.  Bobby was a former member of the Montgomery Sympho­ny Orchestra and many other orchestras throughout the southeast. He was the former director and a member of the Montgomery Community Band.  He was a retired pro­fessor of music at Huntingdon College, Troy University, The University of Alabama, Au­burn University, West Georgia College, University of North Carolina Greensboro, Geor­gia Southwestern College and Lanier High School.  He was presently the Assistant Di­rector of the Montgomery Youth Orchestra.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Eastmont Baptist Church with Rev. Mike North­cutt officiating. A private family graveside service will follow. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from 5 - 7 p.m at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Bobby's name to the Montgomery Youth Orchestra. The Mont­gomery Youth Orchestra will serve as honorary pallbear­ers.  Alabama Heritage Directing.
