Robert "Bobby" Bozeman Crumpton (1926-2007) - Class Of 1944

CRUMPTON, Robert Bozeman, age 80, died Wednesday, Feb­ruary 21, 2007, at his home in Montgomery, AL.  Mr. Crum­pton was a 1944 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and a 1949 graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) majoring in Building Construction.  He was a former Base Civil Engineer with Max­well Air Force Base and was the former State Building Commis­sioner for the State of Alabama.  He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery and an active member of the Tower Sunday School Class. Mr. Crumpton was a member of Kappa Sig­ma Fraternity and a very active longtime member of the Dixie Lion's Club of Montgomery, AL. He was also a member of The Heritage Club as well as the First Monday Mornings Retired Engineer's Club and member and past president of the So­ciety of American Military Engi­neers of Montgomery.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007, 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery with Dr.Karl Stegall officiating.  Interment will follow in Green­wood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Saturday one hour pri­or to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Brantley, Jackie Bush­man, Flynn R. DuBose, Jr. Ray Evans, Joe Hopper, James K. Lowder, Howard Snider and W.Olin Vinson.  Honorary pall­bearers will be L. Ray Bozeman, Roy Browder, Frank T. Hayes, & Members of the Tower Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.  Mr. Crum­pton is preceded in death by his parents, Clay F. Crumpton and Grace Bozeman Crum­pton.  Survivors include his lov­ing wife of 59 years: Sara Gro­gan Crumpton; one daughter: Cara Mia Pugh (Steve) of Au­burn, AL; one son: Robert Boze­man Crumpton, Jr. (Hope) of Montgomery, AL; four grand­children: Sara Elizabeth Crum­pton Worley (Mark) of Mont­gomery, AL, Robert Bozeman Crumpton, III (Libby) of Bir­mingham, AL; Katelyn V. Bras­well of Mobile, AL & Frances T. Braswell of Auburn, AL; and two great-grandchildren: Grace Elizabeth Worley of Montgom­ery, AL & Harris Bozeman Crum­pton of Birmingham, AL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contribu­tions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Build­ing Fund, Baptist Hospice or to the Robert B. Crumpton Build­ing Science Scholarship Fund, Auburn University, 317 South College Street, Auburn AL36849.  Leak Memory Chapel Directing.
