James "Jimmy" Merritt Reed, 72, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. A lifelong resident of Montgomery, Jimmy graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, attended Troy State College and had a successful career in sales. His health began to decline several years ago, but he never gave up, never lost hope, and fought the battle with an amazing amount of courage.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Gray Reed; son, James M. Reed, Jr.; brother, Barry Reed (Carol); sister, Holly Reed; step-son, Hamp Going; step-brothers, Dr. Lee Booker (Maureen), Frank Ussery (Mary Louise); step-sister, Cookie Knott; sister-in-law, Yvonne Searcy (Tom), nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Visitation will be at 12:30 PM at Leak Memory Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM in Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Tim Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, John Cronier, Dr. Hamp Greene, Charles Hawk, Thomas Mancuso, and Al Powell.
