Now living in Ashland, Oregon, an idyllic town in the mountains near the California border, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University.
Our wonderful teacher of advanced English, Mr. Smith, who graded each paper three times, for content, grammer, and style, who assigned us challenging, thought provoking material and who inspired us so almost every hand went up when he asked a question, walked in one day with tears in his eyes. He announced he was resigning to take a tech writing job with the State. It would pay much better and he had to think of getting his children through college. A great teacher was lost, a true morality tale.
