Eliot Morris Capouya (1944-2010)

Capouya, Eliot Morris, age 66, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 after an extended illness. The funeral service will be held at Leak-Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL at 2pm on Friday, February 19, 2010 with Rabbi Elliot Stevens and Rabbi Scott Kramer officiating. Mr. Capouya was preceded in death by his wife Jean, parents Morris N. and Jeannette Capouya. He is survived by his wife Terri, his children, Morris E. (Kelly) Capouya, Kenneth (Terri) Capouya, Emily Minor, Johnathon Towle, his four grandchildren: Jonathan Capouya, Abigail Capouya, Merrily Capouya and Isabella Capouya, his brothers: David (Renee) Capouya and Neilsen Capouya, his brother-in-law Paul (Robin) Krig, his sister-in-law Patricia (Richard) Ahern and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Alan Berlin, Eli Capouya, Jared Capouya, Jonathan Capouya, Melvyn Halfon, Murray Israel, Kenneth Jaffe, Paul Krig, Robert Matthews, and Johnathon Towle. Mr. Capouya was President and Owner of Fair Winds Travel/Total Sports Travel. He was past president of the Montgomery Jaycees, past president of the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama, a current board member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce as well as past president and current board member of the Cancer Wellness Foundation. He was very passionate about helping others in their battle against cancer. Mr. Capouya was instrumental in the development and success of the Wellness Foundation which provides assistance to cancer patients and their families who have no insurance or financial means to pay for travel expenses and medications related to treatment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Wellness Foundation at 4145 Carmichael Road, Montgomery, AL 36106.
