Beverly W. Langston (Stacy) (1939-2016) - Class Of 1957

Beverly Langston Stacy passed away October 10, 2016. She was born April 27, 1939, the only child of Mary Wynne Patrick Langston and Thomas Robert Langston.

Her childhood, as was her beloved husband's was spent in Montgomery Alabama. Her married life with her husband, Luther David Stacy, Jr. M.D., was spent in Atlanta, Georgia where they raised their two children, Deborah Wynne Stacy Gebhardt and Elizabeth Langston Stacy Traylor in Brookwood Hills.

Beverly graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery with a Latin Diploma. She attended Hollins College in Virginia and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1961 with a BA degree. There she was Vice-President and Pledge Trainer of Kappa Delta Sorority, the Transfer Representative to Student Government and in the English Honorary Society.

Beverly and David married in 1961. She was employed as a Child Welfare Aide with Fulton County Department of Family and Children's Services during the 1960s of her husband's medical school and training. She subsequently headed a Child Welfare Advisory Board. Her own children, grandchildren, foster children and ten Godchildren were ever dear to her.

Other volunteer involvements included being a founding member of WINGS (Workers Involved in New Growth for Saint Joseph's Hospital) where she chaired fund raising events for several years. She was also a founding member of ARCS (Achievement Awards for College Scientists.)

Beverly was President of the Lovett School Mothers' Club, President of Ivy Garden Club, President of the Atlanta College of Art Associates, active in auxiliaries of the American College of Clinical Pathologist, The High Museum of Art, The Atlanta Symphony Associates and in her neighborhood. She was an active member of All Saints' Episcopal Church serving as Chairman of the Altar Guild, teaching Children's Church School, working with Refugee Children, tutoring disadvantaged children, delivering Meals on Wheels, helping with Stewardship Campaigns and welcoming newcomers. She especially cherished her friends in Saint Luke Chapter of which she was a member since the 1970s.

Beverly is also survived by her son-in-law, Anthony Dean Traylor, PhD, seven grandchildren Louisa Wynne Gebhardt, David Henry Gebhardt, William David Traylor, Mary Elizabeth Traylor, Julia Langston Traylor, Margaret Anne (Greta) Traylor, Jonathan Patrick Traylor, sister-in-law Sue Stacy Jefferson (Bobby,) nephews Robert Jefferson, M.D. Stacy Jefferson (Cindy) and several cousins.

Beverly's memorial service will be on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 634 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta GA 30308 with a reception following in Ellis Hall.
