Sara Carolyn Godwin (Sasser) (1937-2012) - Class Of 1955

Sarah Carolyn Sasser, age 75, of Sheffield, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Her family will receive friends Friday 12-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Sheffield with her memorial service following. Bill Bedsole and John Sasser will officiate. A private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Mrs. Sasser was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sheffield, and was preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur and Bertie Godwin. Her Christian faith was evident in her daily walk with Jesus and her love for people. Matthew 22:37 and 39 best describe Carolyn, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbors as yourself”.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Charles Sasser; sons, Danny Sasser and wife Liese, Tim Sasser and wife Karran; daughter, Cathy Goff and husband Cliff; brother, James Godwin; sister, Jean Marvel; grandchildren, Kurt and John Sasser, Sarah Kate and Luke Sasser, Zeke and Eli Goff.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Lori Sasser Huntington’s Foundation @ P. O. Box 740856, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674.
