William Robert "Bob" Neal (1936-2013) - Class Of 1954

William Robert (Bob) Neal, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Dean Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Bob was born on March 4, 1936 and was the only son of Haynes Bonner Neal and Mary Morgan Neal who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Lynette Parr Neal. He is survived by his sons, Bobby Neal of Delray Beach, FL and Tom (Donna) Neal of Montgomery and their daughters, Hannah and Emma. He is also survived by his wife, Barbara Starling Neal and her children, Bo (Farrow) Burks and Tammy Burks Workman, and granddaughters, Robbie, Esther, Mary Grace and Sophie. Bob graduated from Lanier High School, class of 1954. He attended Auburn University (API) and graduated from Alabama Military Academy. He served six years in the Alabama National Guard and retired from Alabama Department of Transportation after 32 years as a civil engineer. He was an active member of Taylor Road Baptist Church. He served as deacon for many years at Normandale Baptist and Lakeview Baptist Churches. Serving as pall bearers will be, Bo Burks, Nick Rainwater, Art Sexton, John Castor, Chuck Parr and David Champion. Honorary pall bearers will be his Sunday School class at Taylor Road Baptist; Yancey Swearingen, Joe Wright, Leighton Richards, John Wiggins, Nelson Reese, John Salter and "close knit" Green Chase neighbors.
