James "Jim" Thomas Hamn, Jr. (1935-2010) - Class Of 1953

HAMN, James Thomas Jr., 75 years, a longtime resident of Montgomery and Birmingham died August 15th, 2010 at home after a short illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Foxworth Hamn and James Thomas Hamn.  Survivors include his wife, Jane Turner Hamn, son James Thomas Hamn, III (Katherine), daughters Jodi Henry (Rob), Janet Jordan, Paula Hamn-Roberts, Leigh Jolas (Van) and grandchildren Murray Statham, Jordan Statham, Will Hamn, Mary Virginia Hamn, Elizabeth Hamn, Emilyn Hamn, Janie Roberts, Sam Roberts, Robin Henry, and Roy Henry. Sisters Martha Jane Hamn Dawson (Taylor), Patty Hamn Williams (the late Jesse Williams), and brother- in-law Paul Turner (Carol). He graduated from Auburn University and was CEO of Alpha Lumber, Inc., Birmingham. He was a member of Young Meadows Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18th in the Fellowship Hall at Young Meadows at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. James R. Simoneau and Reverend Kirby Smith officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetary prior to visitation. Pallbearers include grandsons Murray Statham, Jordan Statham, Will Hamn, Mark Jolas, Robin Henry, Roy Henry and nephews Ken Williams, Kirby Williams, and Taylor Dawson, III.
