Sara Nell Colquitt (Sherlin) (1935-2014) - Class Of 1953

Sara Colquitt Sherlin, (79), a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and all her loved ones waiting for her on, May 10, 2014.

Mom was born February 9, 1935 in Coosa County Alabama, at her grandmothers house as were her sisters and many cousins. She was the daughter of Florence and Clinton Colquitt. Her family moved to Montgomery in 1941, where she attended public schools. She was an active member of Eastmont Baptist Church and after a long career retired from the Montgomery County Commission.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, C.D. Sherlin, Parents, C.C. Colquitt and Florence Cardwell Colquitt and granddaughter Martha Nell Sherlin.

She is survived by one son Charles G. Sherlin (Glenda), one daughter Deborah S. Dickey (Billy), Six grandchildren, Michelle Autry (Ken), Sarah Ann Underdown (Tracy), Brad Dickey (Jacquelyn), Rebekah Chaplin (Aaron), Conan Sherlin (Christy) and Tyler Dickey (Kari).

Seven great-grandsons, Caleb, Ethan, Micah and Eli Underdown; Mason, Peyton & Will Dickey; and four great-granddaughters, Addison Dickey, Evelyn and Adaline Sherlin and Kayleigh Autry; and one great-granddaughter on her way, Clara Sherlin; three sisters Merrell Cole, Doris Clevland and Gwen Sides (Gene); one brother Owen Colquitt (Betty); several nieces and nephews and other family members she dearly loved. 

Visitation will be at Leak-Memory Chapel Monday, May 12 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 2pm at Eastmont Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Northcutt & Rev. Art Long officiating. Graveside will be held at Greenwood Cemetery following the service. The body will lie in state at Eastmont Baptist Church one hour prior to service.
