Katheryn Emily Veder (Schweizer) - Class Of 1951

[ June 24, 2018 ]
From: Katheryn T Sellers
For Year: 1951

... I just happened to look up mother and Lanier after randomly finding her 8th-grade graduation certificate. Much to my dismay, all I found was my Uncle Seth, her younger brother, with a quick note that she was deceased but that you had no information about the event.

My mother, Emily Katheryn Veder Schweizer, name upon her death, LOVED Lanier High School, Montgomery and all of her friends from those years long ago. She kept in touch with many and attended all of her reunions sporting her Blue and White best! :~}

... I will send an obituary when I can put my hands on one. We have moved 6 times since mother, "Went Home" as she put it. She was a beautiful Christian woman and loved everyone no matter what.

... Mother was as healthy as a racehorse and I believe could probably still outrun us all before she was bedridden for a short term. They bowled, traveled to participate in senior Olympics, and to see family all of the time, and as always continued going to church. She even continued with the handbell choir and never stopped playing the piano although her tumor was in the occipital lobe which should have curtailed that more, they thought.

Always taking care of family and absolutely ANYONE who needed help! On Christmas Eve of 1997 just after her mother had died that Easter, Mother was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma, an incurable brain tumor. The Dr. said eight months, however,  he had seen up to two years. We never even gave a thought to the two years. As healthy and strong-minded as she was, she just might give them some new numbers.

Mother continued on with her beautiful, happy, positive self through radiation and two craniotomies. As always she was so brave and beautiful and faithful. People were blessed to visit with her.

However, after being diagnosed 12-24-97 mother succumbed so very bravely and "went home" on November 3, 1998. She loved all of her 'yours, mine, and our's children' and always won the most at reunions. She loved that and had many new grandbabies always around her after she went home with hospice, which she more than adored. So many years later she is missed more than words can say!
