Johnnie Ruth King (Parker) (1932-2017) - Class Of 1950

PARKER, Johnnie Ruth, age 84, of Pike Road, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Lillian King, three sisters, and two brothers.

She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church since 1959. Working with children and youth as a Sunday School teacher, GA leader, Training Union and Vacation Bible School teacher in her younger years, and serving as a Care Leader in her Sunday School class in her later years, were among the many ways she served her church and her God. She enjoyed crafts, collecting china dolls, puzzles, and crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her most caring and devoted husband of 63 years, Wayne Parker; daughters, Angela Parker Hand (Mike), and Cindy Parker Langley (Mark); grandchildren, Melanie Hand Stanford (Ryan), Adam Langley (Allison), and Alan Hand; great-grandsons, Tyler Hand and Parker Langley.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017, at 12:30 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel, followed by her Funeral Service at 2 PM, with Dr. Rick Marshall and Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
