Linda L. Myrick (Kimbrough) (1929-2011) - Class Of 1947

Linda Myrick Kimbrough, age 82, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after an extended illness. She is survived by Thomas S. Kimbrough, her husband for 57 years; one son, Thomas S. Kimbrough Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Mitchell Kimbrough; and one granddaughter, Madison Adele Kimbrough, all residents of North Shelby County, Alabama. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews, and cousins in Florida and Georgia.

Mrs. Kimbrough has resided in Birmingham and North Shelby County since 1973. She is a native of Millbrook, Alabama, where she lived for 24 years until she married Thomas S. Kimbrough in 1953 and resided in Montgomery, Alabama. She is a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1952.

While living in Montgomery, Mrs. Kimbrough began a successful art career as an accomplished medical illustrator for the United States Air Force and art for commercial health publications. She later became a noted fine artist with multiple shows in Montgomery and Birmingham art galleries.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Montgomery Chapter, and a member of Riverchase United Methodist Church In Hoover.

Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Riverchase United Methodist Church, with the funeral service immediately following at 12:30 p.m. in the church's worship center. Afterward, the family and friends gathered in an escorted procession to Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo for the 2:45 p.m. committal service. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Alabaster and Pelham Rotary Club.
