Joyce S. Smith, 89, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away October 20, 2017, surrounded by her children and longtime caregiver Patty Sabo. Joyce was born on June 18, 1928, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late William Reed and Sara Rowell Strane. She was proceeded in death by her husband Wallace Alwyn Smith.

She is survived by her children Reed (Elizabeth) Smith of Powder Springs, GA; Missy (Rick) Barrett of Olympia, WA; grandchildren Emily Barrett of Minneapolis MN; Katie Barrett Smith (Evan) of Dallas, TX; Sara Smith of Tuscaloosa AL and Allen Smith of Powder Springs, GA; sister and brother, Frances Layne and Wesley Strane (Janice) of Montgomery, AL.

Joyce was a longstanding member of the Church of The Holy Comforter, where she served in St. Anne's Guild and many other organizations.

Services will be Sunday, October 29th, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Church of The Holy Comforter, 2911 Woodley Road, Montgomery AL 36111. The family requests that any donations be made to the Church of The Holy Comforter.
