BATES, Bobby passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at the age of 82. A Funeral Service was held Monday, July 30th at 2pm at Southern Memorial. He taught a Bible Study class at Tyson Manor for 16 years, supported the Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch and worked as a practicing CPA for 52 years. In 1953, he received the Elijah Watts Seles Gold Medal Award.. Survivors in­clude his wife of 37 years, Anne Bates; sons, John Wilson & Ben Wilson; 4 grandchil­dren, Dawn Weaver, Andy Wilson, Matt Wilson & Lisa Wil­son and nieces & nephews, Edward Bates, Robert Bates, Bonnie Bates, Gloria Faust, Jerrie McInvale & Dorothy Faye Krone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that dona­tions be made to one of Bob­by's favorite charities: McGhee Road Baptist Church, Lake Martin Baptist Church, AL Child Caring Foundation (BCBS), AL Sheriff's Youth Ranch, Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery, C.A.L.L.Counsel/Laubach, Montgom­ery Area Food Bank, Mont­gomery Cancer Wellness Foundation, Montgomery Step Foundation or to the Sal­vation Army.
