Earl Cranston Green, Jr. (1924-2008) - Class Of 1942

GREEN, Earl C., Jr., age 84, passed away Monday, July7, 2008 in Mobile, Alabama after a brief illness. Born April 24, 1924 in Montgomery, Ala­bama, Earl served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Service dur­ing World War II. Working in the engineering and con­struction industry, Earl has been instrumental in numer­ous building projects through­out the U.S. His achievement in the industry is commemo­rated through the projects he completed and reflected in the training and influence he has provided to several generations. His passionate involvement in civic organiza­tions, including Red Cross Blood Program, Exchange Club, Boy Scouts of America, Capitol Heights United Meth­odist Church, and YMCA (as well as many others) aided the central Alabama area for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife Olive, of Spanish Fort; son Darrell and wife Eleene (Daphne); son Don and wife Sandi (Memphis, TN); son Dwight and wife Robin (Mo­rgan Hill, CA); sister Mayme Atkinson (Montgomery); sister Ruth Brown (Chattanooga, TN); nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his sister Myrtice Ra­chels.The service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 11th at Capitol Heights United Meth­odist Church with Rev. Sara Shaver and Rev. Bob Sweet officitaing. Viewing will pre­cede the service from11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
