In Memory Of Our Poets

Solomon "Sol" Piha Page (1920-2007) - Class Of 1937

PAGE, Solomon (Sol), 86, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007.  He was born Solomon Piha in Montgomery, AL on September 30, 1920.  Sol made his greatest life investment in his family and friends.  He was loved in the community;  a true gentleman that made you smile just being in his presence.  Sol grew up in Five Points and attended Sidney Lanier High School.  He served honorably in the Air Force in WWII from 1942 - 1946.  He was past president of Congregation Etz Ahayem, a Shriner and a Mason.  In 2000, he overcame a fight with lung cancer to bless us for seven more years. He laughed to heal. Laughter was his medicine and he drank it heartily.  He inspired others with his zest for life and for that we are forever grateful.  Sol is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rachel; sister, Sarah Shemaria:  children Jeanie Benaroya (Alfred), Myron Page (Ree), and Caren Seligman (Jerry); grandchildren Kimberly (Craig), Russell (Melissa), Erica (Justin), and Josh; great-grandchildren Paige, Drew, Maya, and Shane, and many nieces and nephews. You will always be our "Pop Pop".  He was an incredibly special person and will be profoundly missed. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Leak-Memorial Chapel.  Donations can be sent to the Fisher-Benaroya Endowment at Children's Hospital at PO Box 50020/S-200, Seattle,Washington 98145.Leak Memory Chapel Directing.
