Myrtle Ouida Pugh (Vickery) (1920-2011) - Class Of 1938

VICKREY, Myrtle Ouida Pugh, 91, passed away at home April 6, 2011. Her Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 9th at 1:30 pm at Capitol Heights Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm prior to the service. Mrs. Vickrey was born to William Lewis Pugh and Sarah Jane "Clevie" Downing Pugh at Mitchell Station, Alabama on February 26, 1920 and was raised in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1938. She married Glenn E. Vickrey on December 3, 1941 whom she met when she was 17. Her working career was civil service with her last 10 years at Gunter Air Force Base as a secretary. She also helped and supported her husband in his career as a Funeral Director/Manager at White Chapel. She was totally devoted to her husband. Her own eight sisters and brothers were her best friends. They are now all together again in heaven having a wonderful reunion. She was fiercely devoted to her children and their families. She helped and mentored all of us on many occasions. She was the life of the party by telling wonderful stories and making everyone laugh and have fun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn E. Vickrey and her granddaughter, Leah Glenn Wilson Goldfarb. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Kay Vickrey Wilson, Nina Sue Vickrey Kynard (Ray) and Teresa Anne Vickrey (Lee); her seven grandchildren, Michael Ray Wilson (Debbie), Craig Shelton Wilson, Susan Leigh Kynard-Deavers (James), Christopher Todd Kynard, James Craig Kynard (Michelle), Kelli Renee Kynard McMahon (Neil), Robert Houston Mills (Patty) and eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A very special acknowledgement goes to her caregiver, best friend and very much loved "adopted daughter" Cynthia Howard and her long time friend/caregiver Addie Pressley whom predeceased our Mom and was loved dearly. Pallbearers will be Michael Ray Wilson, Craig Shelton Wilson, Christopher Todd Kynard, James Craig Kynard, Robert Houston Mills, and James Deavers. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions to Capitol Heights United Methodist Church in Montgomery.
